Busy, Busy, Busy

We’re busy as ever with two little tykes in the house. Now that I’m back to work, time is so precious. I think Sunday night was the first time I’ve sat on the couch (for a whole 15 minutes before I fell asleep watching the Packer/Cowboy game) since the twins were a few weeks old. And I’m sure it won’t slow down until they are in college!

Our day goes something like this: 5:15 am alarm clock goes off, coffee pot on, shower, get ready for work, stick pacifier in mouth of drowsy baby, fold laundry and/or put laundry in dryer, stick pacifier in mouth of another drowsy baby, empty dishwasher, listen to babies babble as they begin to wake, finish getting ready, glance at the newspaper, mix bottles, pour coffee (my new best friend), say good morning to Sam & Madie, change diapers, 7:00 am Joan arrives, 7:10 am Mom leaves for work. 7:10 am – 5:00 pm twin spend the day with Joan. 5:00 pm Mom arrives home, quick change of clothes, thinks about dinner (usually Jason has it under control, thank goodness), plays with twins, make twins dinner, eat, load up the stroller, meet our friends Rachel, Donny & Reece for a 45 minute walk, home around 7:15 pm, read books, get twins ready for bed, feed twins their last bottle of the day, 8:00 pm babies are in bed, pick up house, refill changing stations, clean-up kitchen, load dishwasher, start laundry, fold laundry, check email, get clothes ready for morning, 10:30 pm hit the pillow. It makes me exhausted just typing this all out.

On the job front, Jason separated from active duty August 31. He’s spent the month augmenting to the Navy Reserves and was selected to VFA-106’s Reserve Unit, so he will continue flying Hornets/Super Hornets at VFA-106 on a part-time basis. He’s accepted a contractor job with Northrop Grumman and the contract he will be fulfilling is at U.S. Fleet Forces Command in Norfolk. He negotiated one afternoon a week off to fly, continuing to serve his time toward retirement. He’s excited about his new job (he starts next week) and we are both grateful that he will be home and not on long deployments, missing months of the twins’ lives.

The twins are great. They are laughing and smiling, playing with their feet, tasting and chewing every toy we own, and moving all over. They roll over here and there and often we lay them on the blanket facing one way and look away and when we look back they are facing the other way. Honestly, we can’t believe they are 5 months old this week (nor can we believe we’ve been married 8 years today). They love rice cereal, sweet potatoes and carrots and are a little skeptical of squash. They are trying hard to hold their own bottles (when they aren’t sleepy). They love books and being outside. They are growing up fast! Enjoy a few pictures from this week.
