Nearly 21 months have passed and as Sam & Madie's 2 year birthday nears, I wonder where does time go? Why do they grow up so fast? Jason & I often find ourselves saying, "did you hear what she/he said?" usually in astonishment, because their little sponge-like brains absorb things at a pace that makes my head spin.
Sam has grown nearly an inch in the last month. He is just shy of 30 lbs. and with a full head of hair he looks nearly 6-12 months older than Madie to those who don't know us. Sam is fasinated with buses and is currently in love with his yellow Fisher-Price Little People bus. Madie has put on a little more weight in the last month too. She is constantly stringing words now and continues to crack us up with her rendition of the word "clock" - without the "l" sound. She loves her babies and spends her days taking care of them and having tea parties.
Since Christmas, numbers and letters have started to click and they are both counting and learning letters. I love listening to little kids count. Tonight they counted bubbles in the bathtub, books before bedtime, objects in the books, toothbrushes, and anything else we could think of to stall Mom a bit more. How do they learn that at such a young age? They are also starting to recognize letters and have surprised us by calling out letters on sweatshirts and coasters, of all things! We are so blessed to have Joan working so diligently with them.
